Welcome to the Adirondack-Champlain Guide Service

Newsletter - Winter 2009 Edition

Long Pond Frozen

Well Christmas is now only a fading memory and the New Year is upon us. It seems as we get older time goes by so fast doesn’t it? I hope you are all well, happy and “EMPLOYED.”  Now-a-days almost every discussion leads to uncertainty, except, fishing.  You can always look ahead to great fishing with us!  As of this writing we have plenty of ice for ice fishing.  Our lake, LONG POND and the other inland lakes had ice way before Thanksgiving.  Even though this fall was the warmest on record, it got cold real fast.  I sincerely hope Santa Claus was overly generous and took it upon himself to bring you all that new fishing equipment you so desperately “needed”.  I know my own personal order to Bass Pro Shops will make up for any shortfalls that may have occurred in that area.  I hope a gift certificate from Adirondack-Champlain Guide Service was one of the items you received.  They make great birthday gifts, anniversary gifts or for any special occasion like a graduation or wedding gift.  I hope one of your New Years resolutions is to come north and fish with us this year. I know you have been putting it off for years but 2009 should be the year you actually do it.  Hey, I’m not getting any younger myself and this will be our 31st year of providing the finest fishing in the Northeast for trophy smallmouth bass.  The largemouth and pike fishing is also top of the line and we also fish for gar, fresh water drum, bowfin, lake trout and salmon.  Read the entire newsletter.

The Long Pond Lodge Update - November 2008

Lake Champlain fishing in the fall can be challenging and certainly rewarding that is why so many of our clients return year after year in the fall.  The potential opportunity to catch a really “big” fish is always there.  (Notice Craig Jordan’s 6 pound 8 ounce smallmouth in this update) Once the lake water temperature starts it’s slow, steady decline into the low 60 degree range the fish go on a constant feed and move shallow to find food.  The fish are feeding on a wide variety of forage including crawfish, smelt, perch and now alewives.  Tube lures, dropshotting and jerkbaits are the lures that seem to produce the best during this time frame.  The weather can always have a negative impact on fishing as October and November can be windy months.  Read more...

Co-Anglers of the Month

Eric Backman from Norwalk, Connecticut caught this quality Lake Trout on a small spoon while fishing from shore.

Craig Jordan from Whitehall, New York caught this 6 pound 8 oz. smallmouth on a Senko type lure in deep water. The Vermont state record is 6 pounds 13 ozs. this is where this fish was caught.

We have support from 14 local guides who work with us to provide the best in service and knowledge. Long Pond, which is located directly behind our Lodge, is an excellent Adirondack Park fishery. It contains quality large and smallmouth bass, northern pike and a good mixture of large panfish. We also provide various ice fishing packages during the long winter on Long Pond.
