December
Hi Guys,
Well, our lake, Long Pond, and some of the other inland lakes are finally starting to freeze up, and we should be ice fishing by at least, Christmas.
A Slow Fall
As you can see, we caught some really nice Smallmouths this fall. But, we really had to work hard for them this year. Both the weather and water temperatures remained very warm right thru most of October. It was actually more like summer fishing than fall??!! Fortunately we ended the season with some great catches. The fishing team of Mat Lipscomb and Leslie Sigman came through that last week and caught over 100 smallies from 2 1/2 to almost 5 pounds.!! CLIMATE CHANGE??. It's affecting everyone's way of life, and we just have to adjust?! None the less, we really caught some nice fish!! I would say the most consistent fishing, this past year was deep water trolling and jigging for Lake Trout and Salmon . Long Pond was also really good for Largemouths, all season!
ICE FISHING
WELL, it's time to get the tip-ups, jigging rods, and all your other ice fishing equipment ready. As I mentioned the ponds and lakes are starting to freeze up and should be ready by the end of the month, and Lake Champlain should be ready by mid-January. Long Pond, right behind the lodge, is probably the most 'ACTION' lake you will ever ice fish. It has Largemouth, Smallmouth, Pike, Perch, Crappie and Sunfish. Bass are catch and release only but it is still fun to catch them, through the ice. Willsboro Bay , a part of Lake Champlain, is just a few miles down the road and it has Lake Trout , Salmon, Perch and Smelt to ice fish for. So....within a few miles of the lodge you have them all!! Ice fishing on our lake is just for guys staying at our lodge. Once again, for those of you who have never ice fished before and would like to learn, for just the price of our lodging and meals packages, I will personally teach you. I have all equipment needed, the only extra cost would be for live bait. a basic weekend package ( 3 days fishing, two night lodging, and 4 meals) would cost $285.00 per person, and you can't beat that!! If interested give me a call at 518-963-7351. Here are some of last years photos, Nice, huh?!
NO MORE SHOWS
It is very sad to say, but after 45 years, we no longer are attending the winter sports shows. We have always done well at these shows and most of our clients are from shows. We will really miss seeing you guys there.
GIFT CERTIFICATES
Look at these Lakers and smallmouths we caught this summer. The biggest laker you seen here was a whopping 52 pounds and it was caught by our close client and friend Matt Lipscomb. And you might recognize my son. Casey with a 7.34 pound smallmouth. I would like to say they were caught on Champlain, but the lakers were caught in Great Slave Lake in Canada's Northwest territories, at Plummers Lodge. It has the largest Lake Trout in the world and I highly recommend it!! My son Casey caught the monster smallmouth on the St. Lawrence River in a Bass Tournament this summer. But on Lake Champlain we have great fishing for Lakers and Bass as well. Just not quite as big . And our trips are not as costly and a lot closer!!
THANK YOU
As we start our 46th season, I want to once again thank each and everyone of you for all the years you have come to fish with us. It has been a real pleasure! Thank you and Happy Holidays
Pete
