September
Hi Guys,
HWell, has it been hot enough for ya this summer or what???!!! Pretty crappy, huh??!!! As you can see from these photos,in spite of the heat and heavy rain, we did very well this summer.
The Fall Ahead
Our fall fishing is not too far away now. Next to spring, it is my favorite season. We catch most of our biggest fish of the year then, in almost all species, and next to spring, we catch the most fish then. In recent years mid to late September the waters cool and the bait fish move to the shallows and the Bass and Pike are right behind them Early in the fall we start fishing with suspended jerk baits, top water, swimbaits, tubes and ned rigs. Then as the falls move on, and the waters get cooler, all the fish start moving to deeper water. At this time we are fishing with deep crank baits, tube jigs, swim baits, and blade bait. As you can see, in last fall's photos the fish are "BIG"!! The Bass and Pike fishing usually stops about mid November when the water temps go below 40 degrees.
Lakers and Salmon
Lake trout and Salmon are cold water fish and they do not come to the surface or to the shorelines until about mid October and we will catch them right until ice . What is nice about catching them in the fall is that you don't have to deep water troll, you can get them flatlining or casting over certain points and reefs in less than 20 feet of water! Besides Lakers and Salmon we do pick up some Browns, Rainbows, and Walleye too.
BOOKINGS
This fall update is going out a little early, because as I mentioned in recent updates we are short of guides now. Just like everywhere else in the country, help is hard to find. If any of you guys are planning on coming up to fish with a guide, please let us know as soon as possible. We still have openings for smaller parties and if you are flexible, and have several dates ready as options. For those of you who want to come up and stay with us and just fish on your own, no problem, we have the room for ya. Well, guys, let's hope for a long fall fishing season with some normal weather and we'll catch some good ones... Hope to see you soon before winter sets in!
