Hi Guys,
I don't know about you but I've had enough rain for this year!! The lakes and rivers are staying just under flood stage, which is normal for March early April. As of now, Lake Champlain's mean temperature is around 45 degrees, but we are catching fish. We've been averaging 45 to 50 smallmouths per boat per day, which isn't bad. We have already caught hundreds of smallies in the 3 to 5 pound range this month. Awful conditions, but great FISHING!!! check out these fish and that is just from the past couple of weeks!!
We've also caught walleye up to 8 pounds, Pike up to 17 pounds, largemouth Bass up to 6 pounds, Lake Trout up to 10 pounds, and a few Tench up to about 6 pounds. With the water temperatures still so cool, it looks like we will have shallow water fishing, maybe, right thru early July?! As long as we don`t have long periods of hot weather, we might have a long top water bite. "My Favorite"! Again check out these photos from "Just the last couple of weeks.Again brutal conditions, but great fishing. Also, when the wind was so bad on the big lake the fishing was good on our lake behind the lodge. Chris and Kevin Wroboloski caught and released over 100 large and smallmouth Bass this past week. but even so,I really would love to see the sun again.
JUNE FISHING
As I mentioned, we should have this shallow water fishing for Bass and Pike right into early July. In addition to tube jigs, ned rigs, and suspended jerk baits, we start using senko worms, flukes, swimbaits, drop shot , crank bait and an assortment of topwater. If any of you guys are interested, we still have openings the next couple of weeks, while they are still shallow. After that, they spread out and go to deeper water on the reefs and deepwater weedbeds. From then on thru September we are deepwater trolling and jigging for Lake trout and Salmon and also fishing the reefs and weed beds for Bass and Pike. Well, guys that's it for now. Hope to see you soon. Pete 518-963-7351 ps: If you guys who were up this spring and get this update, but didn`t see your photos there, check our website, we have them all there.Pete
