Winter

Hi Guys,

How's is everyone, Happy and Healthy I hope. Speaking of health, I've had a few health issues recently so that is why this update is a little late. But winter is here, and we have plenty of ice!! So, I'm ready for ice fishing..

Looking Back

You must admit, as far as the" weather" is concerned each year is getting worse and worse and I mean everything. Our year started out with tons of rain, so much so that almost every stream, river, lake and pond were at or near flood stages and for the whole spring!! Most of the time it was a heavy cold rain and nasty, but boy did we catch fish. BIG ones too and in almost all species!! If you go to our website and look at last spring's update, you will see the photos. Then suddenly sometime in early June the rains stopped and we hardly had a drop of rain. This dry spell continued until early November !!! Needless to say that brought on one of our longest droughts ever!! June's temperatures soared and we had a few days in the 90's, much hotter then it was in July or August and the surface temps on the lake were up to 80 degrees or more. BY the end of September a number of launch ramps had to close because the water was so low. In early October we sent you the last update, anticipating our fall fishing ahead, BUT, about a week later the DEC pulled in all the ramps. We tried to go out anyway but we damaged a couple of our boats so we had to close for the year. It was just too dangerous. So what you see in the fishing photos here are just in a two week period. No fall bite at all. We just couldn't get out there!!!

Ice Fishing

We have ice and have been frozen for quite a while. As of this writing we have almost a foot of ice!! Here are some of the photos from last winter. Almost all of these photos are from our pond behind the lodge. In the 47 years we've been in business our pond has always frozen over , not so with Lake Champlain. In recent years only the shallow bays have frozen over. But most lakes in the northeast do not have safe ice BUT we do!!Our basic package includes 3 days ice fishing 2 nights lodging 4 meals ONLY $295.00 per person. and you can't beat the price!!! We do not offer guide service with our winter packages but we do have ice fishing equipment for you to use, if needed.
