As most of you know, on November 7th, we lost our good friend "Fred" Johnson to a massive heart attack.
It was a complete shock to all of us that he left so soon having not been sick at all. But he did go the way all of us would like to go, with no suffering. He fished right to his last day!! On that day, we caught the "Lake Champlain Grand Slam", which is our top 5 game fish, smallmouth, largemouth, pike, landlocked salmon, and lake trout all in "One" day. I guess all the stars and planets were lined up for "Fred" cause that only happens once in a great while! Fred was a great fisherman, great friend, and a great human being! He will be missed dearly.

LAST MONTHS CATCH
Here are some photos from this past month. As you have seen over the years, some of our biggest Smallies and Pike are caught in the month of November!
ICE FISHING SEASON IS ALMOST HERE
As of this writing Long Pond has been icing every morning. It does disappear later in the day, but it is getting ready!! As soon as the temperature goes below freezing both day "and " night, it will freeze up in no time and give it about 2 weeks and it will be safe enough to ice fish. We're sending out a special newsletter as soon as it happens, so make sure you look for it!!
Most of the inland lakes should be all frozen up buy the end of December and the shallow bays of Champlain by mid January.
Hey Guys, make sure you check out our 2013 ice fishing rates, you can't beat it! don't forget, that if any of you are first time Ice Fishermen and want to learn, and as long as I am not attending one of the sport shows, I'll be here to teach you. As long as you are staying at the Lodge my guiding on Long Pond is "Free" to you!! I have all the equipment; the only extra charge will be for bait. You will learn a lot and you will love it!!
Long Pond is one of the best action "tip-up" lakes you will ever Ice Fish. It is loaded with Pike, Bass (have to be released in the winter), Yellow Perch, Crappie, Bullhead, and Sunfish. 2 miles down the road from us is Willsboro bay which is 4mile bay on Lake Champlain and it is great ice fishing for landlocked salmon, lake trout, yellow perch and smelt! So within just a few miles of the lodge you can ice fish for most anything!! Also, not to far away are some great inland lakes which have some great salmon and lake trout ice fishing and we will direct you to the hotspots on those lakes. Get your Ice fishing stuff out guys!!
Well guys, that is it for this month. I wish you all a happy holiday season, especially those of you who had to deal with hurricane Sandy. I hope everything gets back to normal soon.
Bye for now,
-Pete
